ROCKVILLE, Md. — Casimara Poshkus McIntire, 97, died on Dec. 15, 2013, at The Villages in Rockville, Md.

Cassie was born in Lewiston, grew up in Durham, graduated from Bates College and attended Columbia University and New Jersey State Teachers’ College. She taught high school English in various schools, including Lewiston High School and York High School. She was a Portland Realtor and was active in theater, including the Portland Lyric Theatre, the Portland Players, Lewiston-Auburn Community Theatre, the Montclair Dramatics Club and Bates College.

Cassie retired to South Portland, but for the past eight years lived in Maryland to be near her sister and nephew. In her final years, Cassie delighted in spending time with her great-great-nieces.

She was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Merton; and two siblings, Ellen McDonald and Algirdas Poshkus.
