1956 – 2014

AUBURN — Harland A. “Hal” Ladd, 58, of Strong, died late Monday afternoon, June 23, following a courageous battle with cancer, at the Androscoggin Hospice House, where he had been continuously surrounded by his children and family.

He was born in Farmington on Feb. 8, 1956, a son of Alton and Mary (Barker) Ladd. He attended local schools, graduating from Mount Abram High School. Hal worked his entire life in the logging and excavation business; he had worked with Harry and Tracy Gordon and Bob Thorndike.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and carpentry. His hard work in life was always in an effort to help support his family and a friend in need. He will be remembered as a loving father, son, brother and friend.

Hal is survived by his five children, Bruce Ladd and his wife, Jaime, of New Vineyard, Meghan Allen and her husband, Chelsea, of New Vineyard, Molly Mitchell and her husband, Chad, of Bellevue, Neb., and Maryann and Robert Ladd of Strong; eight grandchildren, Nikki, Madison, Payton, Warren, Grace, Quinn, Jake and Cohen; eight siblings, Cheryl, Jeff, David, Mike, Tim, Alana, Melinda and Nanette; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Vern and Bruce.
