1928 – 2014
AUBURN — Edith Louise Pratt, 86, of Auburn passed away Saturday, June 28, at Clover Health Care Facility.
She was born in Lewiston on May 20, 1928, a daughter of the late Edward and Viola (Taylor) Pollard.
She grew up in the Lewiston area and attended local schools there. She was a cashier at King’s Department store until they closed and then worked at Zayre’s and Ames, receiving many awards as a cashier. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Pine Cone No. 26.
After retiring, she volunteered at Central Maine Medical Center and enjoyed meeting friends for breakfast at local restaurants. She learned to yodel as a young woman and entertained family, friends and patients at CMMC. She will always be remembered for her love of reading, meeting people and spending quality time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Viola Dobson and husband, John, of Auburn; three sons, Raymond Pratt and companion, Louise Stuart, of Auburn, Ronald Pratt and wife, Laurie, of Gray, and John Pratt and wife, Debora, of Leeds; one brother, John Pollard of Rhode Island; two sisters, Major Shirley Hardy of Old Orchard Beach and Betty Swanson of Lewiston; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Charles M. Pratt Sr., in 1987; two sons, Charles M. Pratt Jr. in 2004 and Paul W. Pratt in 1983; brother, Richard Pollard; and four sisters, Isabelle Quinell, Theresa Dill, Cora Gagne and June Bolduc.
