The Western Maine Art Group has announced that Linda Isham is its artist of the month. Isham’s work will be exhibited at the Main Street Gallery, 426 Main Street, through July. The gallery also will be exhibiting the work of fine artists and artisans living and working in Western Maine

Isham described her approach to her art work: “Drawing is at the heart of my art work whether I’m using graphite, charcoal, acrylic ink, watercolor, mixed media or making handmade books. I’ve been drawing off and on since I was a child. Once I retired I became more serious about making art and took drawing courses at Manchester Community College in Manchester, Conn. That experience opened me to new ways of seeing and experimenting with a variety of media and methods.

“I try in my art to honor the call of beauty and to find it in unexpected places. I focus on the natural world and am particularly drawn to trees.

“I’ve shown my work in both Maine and Connecticut. One of my charcoal drawings is in the permanent collection of Manchester Community College.”

The Main Street Gallery is open Tuesday-through Saturday 10 a.m.-4 p.m. For more information, visit westernmaineartgroup.org. Admission to the gallery is free and open to the public.
