AUBURN – Glenn and Evelyn Boston of Poway, Calif., formerly of Auburn, celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on July 5.

Mr. Boston and the former Evelyn Hudson were married July 5, 1953, in New Egypt, N.J. They grew up in Auburn, where they attended Edward Little High School, graduating in 1954 and 1952.

Mr. Boston enlisted in the Navy in July of 1953. As a couple, they accepted the military as a lifestyle and with their two children, Gary and Gale, moved periodically to fulfill the Navy’s requirements. They made 18 transfer moves during his 37 years of service.

Mrs. Boston worked as an instructional aide in several school districts, but always took care of the family affairs very effectively during the many times Mr. Boston was deployed aboard aircraft carriers.

They decided to settle in San Diego for the great weather, relaxed lifestyle and the strong military community ties. They returned to their home in Poway, when Mr. Boston retired in August of 1990.

They have enjoyed life as a couple, supporting each other during trying times and working together to ensure that their children would become responsible citizens.

They have four grandsons, two granddaughters and two great-granddaughters.
