He was born in Van Buren on Dec. 21, 1941, a son of Oswald and Marguerite Deschaine.

He enjoyed watching his favorite baseball team, the N.Y. Yankees, and playing bingo with his friends. He was also an avid shopper and always wanted to dress to impress. Joseph will be remembered most for his sharp wit and tremendous sense of humor.

He was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Jeannine; and his brothers, Oswald Jr., Robert and Roland. He was also predeceased by his life partner, Earl Mifflin.

Joseph’s family would like to give special thanks to the staff on 4East at d’Youville Pavilion for the excellent care they provided him and the compassion they had for the family. They also want to thank the hospice team provided by Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for the care and compassion they provided him in his final days. We all love you.
