1933 – 2014

AUBURN — Joan Labadie, 80, of Lewiston, died Thursday afternoon, July 17, at the Androscoggin Hospice House, with her family by her side.

She was born in Madawaska on Nov. 5, 1933, a daughter of the late Philip and Marie (Saucier) Lamare Sr. She was married on Jan. 29, 1966, to Roland Labadie, and together they raised their family and owned and operated Labadie’s Bakery for many years in Lewiston.

She was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, and was a former parishioner of St. Mary’s Church.

Her passion was her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed flower gardening and playing cards, and leaves many close friends.

Survivors include one son, Fabien Labadie and wife, Jennifer, of Lewiston; two daughters, Crystal Buchanan and husband, Stephen “Buck,” of Auburn and Jo-Anna McCammon and husband, Rex, of Austin, Texas; one brother, Gilman Lamare, of Auburn; four sisters, Bernice Michel of Lewiston, Marie Coulliard and husband, Lawrence “Pete,” of Lewiston, Ruth Martin of Lewiston and Gilmay Lamarre of Turner; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and one sister-in-law, Lorraine Lamare, of Lewiston.

She was predeceased by her husband, Roland, in 1994; her son, Raymond, in 2012; one sister, Vera Lamare; and three brothers, Norman, Herman and Philip Lamare Jr.
