POLAND SPRING – The wedding of Janessa Ashley Williams and Kurt James Hamel was held at 5 p.m. Oct. 20 at All Soul’s Chapel in Poland Spring. Julie Bray, notary public and cousin of the bride, officiated at the ceremony.
Mrs. Hamel is the daughter of James and Maureen Williams of Lisbon. Mr. Hamel is the son of Ernie and Diane Hamel of Greene.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white strapless gown adorned with crystals and beads, sequined flowers tinted pink and a chapel-length train and matching fingertip veil. She also wore pink pearl earrings, necklace and bracelet and carried a cascade of Stargazer lilies, Gerber daisies and roses in various shades of pink.
Sheena Marichal and Heather Marichal, lifelong friends of the bride, were maids of honor. Bridesmaids were Stephanie Merrill, Jennifer Libby, Arica Thompson, Mary Beach and Courtney Eck, friends of the bride. Kourtney Major, second cousin of the bride, was flower girl.
Kyle Hamel, brother of the bridegroom, and Ross Miller, lifelong friend of the bridegroom, were best men. Ushers were Bruce Merrill, Kevin Spencer, Ryan Jones, Doug McGray and Joe Dagone, friends of the bridegroom. Justin Theriault, second cousin of the bride, was ring bearer.
A reception followed at Lost Valley Resort in Auburn, after which the couple took a seven-day cruise to the Southern Caribbean. They are residing at their new home in Auburn.
The bride is a 2002 graduate of Lisbon High School and a 2006 graduate of the University of Maine at Farmington with a bachelor’s degree in rehabilitation. She is developmental therapist at Sandcastle Pre-School in Lewiston.
The bridegroom is a 1998 graduate of Leavitt Area High School and is store manager at V.I.P. parts, tires and service in Farmington.
