POLAND – A surprise party was held recently for David and Carol Kimball of Poland, on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary. The party was hosted by their four children, Janice, Chris, Ronnie and Tracey, and was held at the new home of their son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Sherri Kimball, on Aug. 4.

Decorations included blue, white and gold balloons. Pictures from the couple’s past 50 years together were enlarged and decorated the tables, along with potted annuals. The couple received many gifts, including a scrapbook of their eight grandchildren, Ginger, C.J., Tricia, David, Ryan, Megan, Randy and Rusty, and their four great-grandchildren, Orion, Thomas, Max and Ava. Also featured was a digital frame containing many family pictures and personalized M&Ms noting the couple’s names and their anniversary.

Their daughter, Tracy, wrote a speech and presented with pictures, highlighting 10 lessons to be learned that had made their 50-year marriage work.

Mr. Kimball and the former Carol Slattery were married Aug. 7, 1957, at Poland Community Church and have lived on Jackson Road in Poland for the past 50 years. Together with Mr. Kimball’s brother, Brian, they operated the Kimball Dairy Farm until their retirement in the mid 1990s. They now enjoy the new home they built next to the farm, tending to their vegetable and many flower gardens, doing their five-mile daily walk, cheering for the Red Sox, watching NASCAR races and attending country music concerts.
