LEWISTON – A surprise party was held recently for Sonny and Pauline Beaudoin of Lewiston, on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary. The event was held at the New Auburn Social Club.

Party hosts were son and daughter-in-law of the couple, Maurice and Sandra Beaudoin. Ronnie Regis was the toastmaster.

The hall was decorated with gold and white balloons. Pictures from their wedding albums, framed in gold, decorated the tables. A collage of assorted pictures of the couple’s 50 years together was displayed. Several poster-size pictures of the couple were on the wall.

The cake was created to look like their original wedding cake and decorated with yellow (gold) roses and topped with the couple’s wedding picture. The cake was made by a niece of the couple, Dolly Poisson.

Instead of a guest book, the guests used gold pens to sign and write sentiments on a poster-size wedding picture of the couple.

Mr. Beaudoin and the former Pauline Bosse were married on June 22, 1957, at St. Mary’s Church in Lewiston. In addition to their son, they have a granddaughter, Jessica Burgess.

Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Beaudoin was employed at Bradlees, New England Counter and Knapp Shoe.

Prior to his retirement, Mr. Beaudoin was employed at Pioneer Plastics, Falcon Shoe, Wood and Smith Shoe and Shapiro Shoe. He currently volunteers at Good Shepherd Food Bank.

Both are members of the 20M Club and the Pastime Club. They were also members of the former St. Mary’s Church.

Original wedding attendants present were Blanche Landry, maid of honor, and Carmen Moreau, bridesmaid.
