1936 – 2014

LEWISTON — Guy Villeneuve, 78, of Lewiston, died Saturday, Aug. 9, at his home, after a one-year bout with cancer.

He was born in St. Methode, Quebec, on July 15, 1936, a son of the late Odias and Almoza Champagne Villeneuve. He was educated in Canadian schools and was married on June 6, 1959, to Jeanne M. Tardif.

Prior to his retirement, Guy was employed in the Lewiston Public Works department as a welder for 27 years. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at Holy Cross Church and enjoyed tinkering with cars, metal fabrication, tending his garden and spending time with his granddaughter. He also enjoyed ice hockey and was an avid Montreal Canadiens fan.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanne, of Lewiston; a daughter, Linda Additon, of Scarborough; a granddaughter, Kaylin Additon, of Scarborough; and three sisters, Muriel Roy and Candide Brochu, both of Biddeford, and Simonne Paquette of Los Angeles, Calif.

He was predeceased by a son, Yvain Villeneuve; a sister, Rolande Villeneuve; and a brother, Fernand Villeneuve.
