AUBURN – A family celebration was held on Oct. 21 for Dolard and Anna Mathieu of Auburn, with their children, on the occasion of their 65th wedding anniversary.

Mr. Mathieu and the former Anna Turmel were married on Oct. 16, 1941, at St. Mary’s Church in Lewiston.

In attendance were children of the couple and their spouses, Paul and Jeanne Mathieu, John and Beatrice Mathieu and Ronald and Jeanne Arneault, all of Lewiston. Leo and Sue Mathieu of Texas were unable to attend the celebration.

The couple also has 11 loving grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Mathieu were hard workers all their lives. He is a veteran of World War II, along with all of his brothers. He is also retired from an area shoe shop as a hand sewer.

She was a worker in area mills and was, and still is, a homemaker. They are active parishioners of St. Patrick’s Church in Lewiston.
