1947 – 2014

LITCHFIELD — James P. Hyde Sr., 67, of Litchfield, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 16.

Born in Augusta on March 5, 1947, he was a son of the late Clarendon and Nannette (St. Louise) Hyde. Proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army, he worked many years for the Turnpike Authority as well as the Oxford Dragway.

He married the love of his life, Katherine A. Wallace, on Dec. 31, 1966, and together they raised two children. They enjoyed an amazing love story for 43 years, until her passing on Feb. 26, 2010.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and his cats, Tiger and Kay.

Jim is survived by his companion, Anne; his brother, Maurice Hyde; his daughter, Tina Mitchell and her husband, Jeff; his son, Jim Hyde Jr. and his wife, Oneica; six grandchildren, Amanda, Christopher, MeKae, Corbin, Daltonlee and Morgan; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Jack Hyde.
