When I was 14 years old, I gave a speech in which I told my classmates my dream of one day serving Maine in the U.S. Senate. I was inspired by Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins, who proved that through hard work, compromise was not only possible, but absolutely vital in order for our government to be effective.

The senators inspired me to become an active member of my community. They gave me inspiration during my four years as class president, and also during my two terms as Lewiston Youth Advisory Council Chair.

Sens. Snowe and Collins have had a profound impact on my political beliefs, and continue to inspire me every day. This November, I get to vote for one of my heroes, Susan Collins.

Sen. Collins has dedicated herself to the people of Maine, and I hope my fellow Mainers will support her on Nov. 4.
