KLT 25th anniversary celebration

FAYETTE — Kennebec Land Trust’s 25th anniversary celebration will be held Sunday, Aug. 24, at Camp Winnebago on Echo Lake.

The event and annual meeting will include Tri Sport Challenge, local foods potluck, workshops and live music.

A 25th anniversary capital campaign is geared towards building funds to conserve and maintain properties. The group also has a goal to increase membership to 1000 (currently around 900). Property acquisitions/easements include Howard Hill in Augusta, an additional parcel at Parker Pond in Fayette, Judy Kane Parcel – Kennebec River Corridor in Augusta and Samuel Hutchinson Homestead Conservation Area in Litchfield.

North Turner Cemetery meeting

TURNER — A follow-up meeting for the North Turner Cemetery will be held Tuesday, Aug. 26, at the home of Eva and Peter Leavitt at 7 Beach St., North Turner.

This is the final meeting of the season. The public is welcome.

Sabattus Seniors plan meeting, trips

SABATTUS — Sabattus Seniors will meet Thursday, Sept. 4, at Maxwell Gill Hall. Doors open at 11 and this month’s meal will be spaghetti and meatballs, salad, bread and dessert.

RSVP by Aug. 30 to Pauline at 375-4627. This date is for both sign-ups and cancellations. As there have been no meetings the last two months, it is important to let Pauline know if you are coming.

Applications for the scholarship program will be passed out at this month’s meeting.

The seniors have two trip coordinators planning the following trips.

Jean is offering Cirque du Soleil on Sunday, Sept. 7; Oct. 21-22 is an overnight in Connecticut for Foxwood/Mohegan with a tribute to a Frank Sinatra impersonator show. Sunday, Nov. 16, is a trip to Indian Head Resort for a Christmas party. Contact Jean at 784-5264.

Helen is offering a Veterans Day show on Nov. 6 with a tribute to the Andrew Sisters; an Aug. 21 trip to Clambake Seafood Restaurant in Old Orchard; and ongoing trips to Foxwood. She can be reached at 375-6588. Trips are available to all seniors.

Bartending course starts Sept. 10

AUBURN — The Corporate and Community Services Division at CMCC will offer Professional Bartending & Mixology on Wednesday evenings, Sept. 10 to Nov. 12, from 6 to 9 p.m.

Participants in this non-credit course will learn the basics of professional bartending and mixology and its application in restaurants, clubs and function facilities. This course also includes the Maine Course, a six-hour seminar in the responsible service of alcohol that is required by the State of Maine Liquor Commission and the Department of Human Services. The certification earned is good for three years.

Registration is open and ongoing but space is limited to eight participants. The cost of $379 includes all materials. Registration deadline is Sept. 3.
