SOUTH LIVERMORE – Lawrence and Patricia McNear of South Livermore, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a dinner on Aug. 31, given by their children, at the Village Inn Restaurant in Auburn.

Mr. McNear and the former Patricia Jackson were married on Sept. 1, 1956, at the Leeds Community Church in Leeds, with the Rev. Carl Geores performing the ceremony.

Mrs. McNear is the daughter of Verna Jackson and the late Perley Jackson. She enjoys working at home, tending her vegetable and flower gardens, as well as working on a number of quilting projects.

Mr. McNear is the son of the late Elmo and Bernice McNear. More popularly known as “Mac,” he is a semi-retired, self-employed carpenter and home builder. He is also an avid farmer, specializing in belted Galloway cows.

They have three children, Shelly Hanson and her husband, Peter, of Chelsea, Randall and his wife, Tammy, of Wayne, and Stephen and his wife, Shirley, of Livermore. They have four grandchildren, Brent and fiancee, Caitlin, Matthew, Kristyn and Jessica McNear, and step-grandchildren, Barry Hanson and his wife, Tiffany, and their children, Trystan and Chase. They are also expecting their first great-grandchild in October.
