PORTLAND – The wedding of Jenifer Provencher and Alfred Blais was held on Sept. 17 at the First Parish Church in Portland. Lori Voornas officiated at the ceremony.

Mrs. Blais is the daughter of Wayne and Bernice Provencher of Limerick. Mr. Blais is the son of Roger and Theresa Blais of Jay.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white beaded satin gown with empire waistline.

Sara Sanborn was matron of honor for her sister, and bridesmaids were Kellie Hamilton, cousin of the bride, and June Smith, friend of the bride. Rosalynne Sanborn, niece of the bride, was flower girl.

Peter Blais performed the duties of best man for his brother, and ushers were Jay Farley, friend of the bridegroom, and Kevin Coates, cousin of the bridegroom (honorary, could not attend). William Blais, nephew of the bridegroom, was the ring bearer.

A reception followed at the Mariners Church in Portland, after which the couple traveled to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

The bride is a 1997 graduate of Massabesic High School and a 2001 graduate of the University of Maine with a degree in mass communication. She is employed as webcast producer at CMP Media.

The bridegroom is a 1996 graduate of Jay High School and a 2001 graduate of the University of Maine with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. He is employed as application consultant at Synopsys.
