WILTON – A surprise 50th anniversary party was given on June 25 for Staunton (Bunnie) and Edna Allen of Wilton at the spacious lakeside home of Frank and Marie Young on Wilson Lake. Son, Scott, and daughter-in-law, Shellie, and son, Randy, and his fiancee, Sonna Hayduk, arranged the party. Evelyn Dutil, sister of Mrs. Allen, and Carol Judkins, assisted with the arrangements.
The anniversary party was held under sunny skies. An anniversary cake was served along with a buffet lunch.
Mr. Allen and the former Edna Clark were married by the Rev. George Voltz on June 23, 1956, at the Wilton Methodist Parsonage.
They are the parents of two sons, Scott of Wilton and Randy of Glen Cove, N.Y. They also have three granddaughters, Danielle Neal, Jennell Allen and Marissa Allen, and they will have a future granddaughter, Jackie Hayduk.
The couple received many gifts and cards from their friends and family. Guests attended from Wilton, East Wilton, Farmington, Waterville, Vassalboro, Rumford, Windham and New York.
Mrs. Allen graduated from Wilton Academy and Farmington State Teachers College. She is a retired kindergarten teacher and is currently serving as a substitute teacher for MSAD 9.
Mr. Allen also graduated from Wilton Academy and attended Kents Hill School. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard and was employed for many years as an auto salesman, later becoming a foreman at an area shoe shop.
