1949 – 2014
AUBURN — Rebecca R. Curry, 64, of Lisbon, died Thursday, Aug. 21, at the Hospice House, with her husband at her side.
Becky was born in Bangor on Aug. 31, 1949, to Douglas and Joanne (Wight) Blanchard. She attended school in East Millinocket and graduated from Cambridge High School in Cambridge, NY. She attended Husson College.
Becky helped manage hotels with her first husband. She then worked for several businesses in the Portland area. Upon marrying Bill on Oct. 1, 1983, she moved to Brunswick, went to work at Downeast Energy and stayed there until her retirement in 2012. She and Bill moved to Lisbon in 2004, where they made many new friends.
Becky enjoyed rooting for her two favorite teams, the New York Yankees and Giants. She also enjoyed hanging out and talking to her friends at Fast Breaks. She found her most joy spending time with her family, especially when she got to fulfill the dream of taking her granddaughter, Dylan, to Disney World for the first time in February of this year.
Becky will be remembered for her smile and her laugh. Also, for how she was nice to everyone; she was the type who would talk to you and treat you like you were an old friend, even if she just met you.
Becky is survived by her husband; her stepdaughter, Bethany Pomerleau and her husband, Eugene; and her granddaughter, Dylan, all of Lisbon; her brother, James and his wife, Dee, of Brewer; her sister, JoEllen, of the Virgin Islands; and two nieces and two nephews.
Special thanks go out to the staff and volunteers at the Hospice House for the care they gave Becky in the last month of her life.
