AUBURN — The Androscoggin Retired Educators’ Association will meet at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, at the High Street Congregational Church.
The meal will include ham, macaroni and cheese, coffee and/or tea and dessert. Turkey may be substituted for ham for dietary reasons. The cost is $10.
Members are asked to bring a nonperishable food item or a small cash donation. These will be donated to a local food pantry.
From 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, Sept. 11, members will participate in the Day of Caring at the Good Shepherd Food Bank, 3121 Hotel Road. There will be a tour of the facility and volunteers will fill backpacks with food for hungry children. Those who can help that day should call Angie at 782-5196 or Sue T. at 784-4395.
In addition, a few AREA members will go to Franklin Alternative School to work with students preparing healthy meals and snacks. Members should bring basic recipes using fruits and vegetables to the Sept. 10 meeting.
Dues are payable in September and are $10 for retired educators, $6 for spouses, and free for honorary members (age 85 and older).
AREA meets five times a year: September, October, November, March and April. All retired educators are welcome.
