LEWISTON — The YWCA is offering new aquatic programs: aqua kickboxing and paddle board stretch and strength.

Aqua kickboxing classes combine aqua movement, music and the  fundamentals of kickboxing for a whole body workout. It is an energetic blend of traditional aqua choreography.

The water aerobics cardio class is a “no contact” class that will help burn calories and tone into shape. No experience is necessary. Classes will begin from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4.

Paddle board stretch and strength will begin with a swim and paddle warm-up series to ensure warm and ready muscles, after which there will be an alternating mix of Pilates, strength poses, abdominal and core fitness challenge moves presented in various levels to accommodate different ability levels.

It will wrap up with a tranquil set of Yoga postures and stretches. Balance techniques will be introduced progressively over the course of several weeks allowing for individual development of physical skills. Classes will run from Sept. 23 to Nov. 11. Space is limited. Program cost for YWCA member $60; nonmember $75.
