This is in response to Rebecca Chabot’s letter, “Lewiston doesn’t care about animals” (Aug. 31).

It is too bad that there are so many stray cats, dogs, etc., in Lewiston, but I see people feeding them all the time. And if Lewiston did have a 24-hour animal rescue service, who would be paying for that?

The taxpayers.

Maybe, since Chabot is so concerned, she could volunteer her time to man that 24-hour rescue service. Or, better, she could do the research to find out what it would cost to run such a service (instead of just saying, “Lewiston doesn’t care about animals”).
