MECHANIC FALLS – Walter and Sharon Goss of Mechanic Falls recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with a surprise gathering at the Pleasant Street Baptist Church in Mechanic Falls.
Their children, Emily, Stephen, Michael and Sarah Goss, and Mrs. Goss’ twin sister, Sheryl Olstad of Farmington, N.H., planned the event.
Mr. Goss and the former Sharon Stevens were married on July 12, 1980, at the Pleasant Street Baptist Church, by the Rev. Laurence Jordan.
The afternoon included a program of fun, laughter and reminiscing, as the couple was quizzed on what they remembered about their wedding day and honeymoon. Kari Olstad, niece of the couple, sang “The Time of My Life,” by Mark Schultz, as their daughter, Sarah, came in wearing Mrs. Goss’ wedding gown. This was followed by a slide show of the couple beginning from infancy through their childhood years, their wedding, the birth of each of their children, up to the present. A luncheon was served, including an anniversary cake made by Sheryl Olstad.
Mr. Goss is employed at Elmet Technologies in Lewiston as an environmental engineer. Mrs. Goss is employed as a math teacher at the Elm Street School in Mechanic Falls.
Friends and relatives attended from Maine as well as New Hampshire and Maryland. The couple received many gifts and cards.
