GROTON, Conn. – Mr. and Mrs. James Anthony Carter Jr. of East Greenwich, R.I., are pleased to announce the marriage of their daughter, Elissa Marie Carter, to Lt. (junior grade) Matthew Waito Koskela, son of Kenneth and Theresa Koskela of West Paris.
Wedding vows were exchanged on July 23 at St. Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Church in Groton, Conn., followed by a reception at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn.
The bride is a 2003 graduate of Maine Maritime Academy in Castine and received her degree in marine science. She is an instructor for Project Oceanology in Groton, Conn., where she teaches marine science to children.
The bridegroom is a 1998 graduate of Telstar Regional High School in Bethel and a 2002 graduate of Maine Maritime Academy, receiving his degree in marine engineering. He currently serves as the chemistry and radiological controls assistant aboard the nuclear-powered warship, USS Springfield, stationed in Groton.
The couple is currently residing in Norwich, Conn.
