JAY — On Sept. 10 the Daughters of Isabella 677 from St. Rose of Lima in Jay gathered at the parish hall to conduct their monthly business meeting. The meeting was called to order at 6:45 by Regent Denise Rodzen.
Chancellor Lauriann Castonguay led the group in the recitation of the rosary.
A short form conferral was held for new Daughters Grace Denison, Karen Bryant and Donna Bickford. A long form conferral will be held at a later date.
Rita Crowley sat in for excused Recording Secretary Jackie Castonguay, and Maryette Castonguay sat in for excused Banner Bearer Dobie Nickless.
The pledge to the flag was said. Rita Crowley read the roll call of officers. Next she read the mail received, including a thank-you from the family of Nick Knowlton and a letter received from American Legion Auxiliary unit 10.
Rodzen spoke to the group about her trip to Canada for the International meeting. At the meeting Rodzen was given an award for membership recruitment and retention program award to Circle 677.
Annette Melanson announced that she sent get-well cards to Carmen Moreau and Doris Simoneau, a sympathy card to Pauline Marceau and “thinking of you” cards to Elizabeth Coulomber and Doris Simoneau.
Scribe Kim Couture told the group that she had put articles in the newspapers about the meetings and the summer outing. She then told everyone how the Wilton Blueberry Festival parade went and that the float the Daughters made and entered for the parade won first place in the Americanism division. She showed everyone the beautiful first-place ribbon they received.
Annette Melanson spoke about the fall bazaar and that they would be selling lunch again this year. The bazaar will be held on Saturday, Oct. 11, at the parish hall. Doors will open at 8:30. Theme baskets will be raffled off at the bazaar.
Rodzen read a letter she received from International. Louise Buzzell spoke about the 40/40 club. Anyone may join that; you do not have to be a Daughter.
