AUBURN — The Robin Dow Senior Citizens Club will meet at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, at Schooner Estates, Tenants Harbor Room, 200 Stetson Road. The doors will open at 11 a.m.
Tickets for Thanksgiving and Christmas will be on sale Sept. 24 and Oct. 9. Cost is $8.
As a result of a plea to over 30 businesses for assistance to keep Robin Dow Seniors going without draining members’ pockets, Schooner Estates answered a letter by stepping up to the plate and offering to sponsor the club.
The offer to accept was voted on by the membership.
Thanks to the board members and the management at Schooner Estates, the move was made without incident.
A regular meeting was held on Sept. 10 at the Alden M. Gayton Post 31, American Legion, 426 Washington St., under the direction of president Carmela Hewitt.
Opening prayer was given by chaplain Pat Donohue followed by recitation of the Lord’s Prayer by those in attendance, the salute to the flag and singing a verse of “America the Beautiful.”
The secretary’s report was given by Opal Grant. Irving Grant gave the treasurer’s report. Correspondence secretary Irene Fraser read her report.
September birthdays were recognized.
Roland St. Pierre was presented a gift of thanks for his attention to the club’s many needs for the past years at Gayton Post 31.
Prize winners were: attendance, Mary Tassinari, Shirley Huntley; pot of gold, Leigh Whittle, Joan Webb, Mary Tassinari; raffle, Millie Brainerd, Don Doyon, Ann Watson; 50/50, Don Doyon, Nancy Roy, Wallace Bragdon.
Pat Donohue closed the meeting with a prayer concerning the move to Schooner Estates. The group sang “God Bless America.” A bag lunch and bingo concluded the day.
Upcoming trips include Town and Country Inn, Gorham, N.H, on Oct. 9 and Indian Head Resort, Lincoln, N.H., on Nov. 16.
