SOUTH PARIS – Mark and Lola Bisson of Rumford recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary, hosted by their children at Maurice’s Restaurant.

The private room was beautifully decorated, with World War II-era music playing softly in the background. Pictures were projected throughout the celebration of their 60 years together.

The couple was married by the bride’s Godfather, Monsignor Murphy, at St. Paul’s Church in Weirton, W.Va., on Sept. 1, 1945. They met during the WWII when he was stationed at the Aberbeen Proving Ground in Maryland as an instructor and she was a cadet nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Baltimore, Md.

At the age of 51, Mrs. Bisson earned her bachelor’s degree from UNH (Keene State) with three art history study trips abroad.

For many years, the couple owned and operated Pyro-Tech Engineering Co., Inc., specializing in alternate sources of energy and engineering.

The couple has two children, Briana Knoop of Westfield, N.J., and David of Raymond; five grandchildren, Dustin and Damian Knoop and Daniel, Jason and Tracy Bisson; and three great-grandchildren, Jack, Braeden and Elise Eileen Bisson.

The Bissons are grateful to be Americans, and proud of their country and their children.
