NORWAY – Phillip and Jeanne Whittemore of Norway recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a surprise party at the South Paris Universalist Church good cheer hall.

The event was planned by their sons, Wayne and Blaine, daughter-in-law, Berdina, grandson, Chris, and family and friends.

Mr. Whittemore and the former Jeanne Lamb were married on June 19, 1955, at the West Paris Universalist Church, with Mrs. Whittemore’s grandfather, the Rev. Albert N. Smith, officiating.

Original wedding attendants present were Elaine L. Blossom, matron of honor, and William Hall, best man. Many family members and friends also attended.

The couple has resided in Norway for 50 years. Mr. Whittemore owned and operated Whittemore’s Auto Body Shop for 20 years. Mrs. Whittemore worked at Sanborn Motor Express and Ed Thayer Trucking for a total of 32 years.

They are now enjoying retirement and spending time with their grandson, Christopher.
