1922 – 2014

AUBURN — Yvonne J. Thibodeau, 92, of Franklin Street in Lewiston and formerly of 351 Main St. in Auburn, died after a long struggle with cancer on Wednesday, Sept. 17, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, with her family by her side.

She was born in Lewiston on Feb. 15, 1922, the adopted daughter of the late Pierre and Lucie Therrien Royer, and attended local schools. She was married to Alberie Thibodeau, who died Oct. 28, 2003.

Yvonne worked in a variety of businesses, until they closed. These included the Continental Mill, the Androscoggin Mill, Raytheon, Paragon Glass and Koss Shoe, and she retired from Etonic Shoe.

Yvonne was a former member of St. Louis Parish and was currently a member of the Prince of Peace Parish at Holy Family Church. She was also a member of the Auburn Senior Citizens and the Dames de St. Anne.

She enjoyed gardening, knitting, needlework of all kinds, spending time with family and spoiling her dog, Abbie.

Mom will be remembered as a hard worker and for her kindness, generosity, love of family and devotion to her Catholic faith.

She is survived by three daughters, Sister Frances “Susan” Thibodeau, OP, of Chicago, Ill., Lorraine Fournier and husband, Ronald, of Lewiston and Janine Thibodeau of Lewiston; five grandchildren, Ann Martin and husband, Charles, John Fournier and wife, Stephanie, Jay Fournier, Thomas Beaulieu and wife, Adele, and Amie Nickel and husband, Craig; and six great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her biological parents, George and Marie Anna Perreault/Ouellette; a son, Raymond Thibodeau in 2001; five brothers; and one sister.
