I had the pleasure of speaking to members of the Franco-American Heritage Center at their monthly luncheon meeting recently. The subject was train service, “Past, Present and Future.” More than 200 people there expressed the yearnings of so many of Maine’s residents for the restoration of passenger train service in Maine.

The success of that aspiration will depend on the actions of the upcoming 127th Maine State Legislature. It has been my experience in the State House that Auburn State Rep. Wayne Werts has worked tirelessly to achieve that goal for his constituents and that of all the residents of Maine who want rail as an option.

People who want passenger train service to Montreal and passenger train service to Portland and Boston from Lewiston-Auburn, should support the re-election of Wayne Werts to the Maine Legislature and a return to his most productive seat on the Legislature’s Transportation Committee.
