Oxford Hills (4-4) at Bangor (5-3)

Vikings’ defense is plenty good enough to hang with the Rams, even when the hosts are at full strength. Davis Turner vs. Dane Johnson might be more fun than any one-on-one matchup we’ve seen all season. Oxford Hills’ running game needs to be good enough to set up big plays through the air.

Mt. Blue (4-4) at Messalonskee (4-4)

Friday, 7 p.m.

It’s the B-East, where anything is possible, particularly in the 5-at-4 game. Cougars already own a 14-7 win over the Eagles this season. MB defense has been spotty since, and it will take another over-its-heads effort to complete the sweep. Health of RB/LB J.T. Williams will be a major factor.

Mtn. Valley (2-6) at Spruce Mtn. (7-1)

Friday, 7 p.m.

Yes, it really was only 2011 when the Falcons dominated the newly minted Phoenix in the quarterfinals en route to their 17th regional title game in 23 seasons. Seems like a lifetime ago for the freshmen from both sides. Spruce Mountain put up 46 points in previous clash at Rumford.

Lake Region (2-6) at Leavitt (7-1)

Friday, 7 p.m.

All the Hornets’ coaching staff needs to say is “Belfast,” and it should ensure that nobody in green has trouble getting motivated for this game. Levi Craig threw for more than 300 yards and five touchdowns in the first half against Lakers earlier this month.

Poland (3-5) at Wells (6-2)

Friday, 7 p.m.

First-ever playoff game for the Knights is a tall order, but if their offense can control the football, they’ve shown the past few seasons that they can keep it close against heavily favored opponents. Warriors have title hopes if they avoid penalties, shore up red zone failures.

Winthrop/Monmouth (3-4) at Old Orchard Beach (4-3)

Friday, 7 p.m.

Last year’s softer second-half schedule caused an undefeated Ramblers’ squad to lose focus. This year, it allowed a winless, much younger team to find its footing. Winmouth kept it close for a half against OOB the first time. Key is stopping do-everything QB Bryan Roberts.

Boothbay (2-5) at Dirigo (6-1)

Friday, 7 p.m.

Cougars handled the Seahawks in an August exhibition. They did meet during the Class D Wetst regular season. Cougars’ diversity of weapons on offense, defense and special teams makes them a heavy favorite. WR/DB Gavin Arsenault is coming off  a huge game at Traip.

Maranacook (2-5) at Oak Hill (7-1)

Saturday, 12:30 p.m.

Raiders a little bit annoyed at No. 3 seed in Class D West, and Black Bears could pay the price. Oak Hill prevailed only 21-0 in September, but Raiders were without Kyle Flaherty, who needs 83 rushing yards for 4,000 career. Alex Mace is 132 away from 4,000 all-purpose yards, as well.
