LEWISTON — Central Maine Medical Center’s Health and Fitness Center is offering the following group exercise programs beginning Nov. 17.

Cardio Sculpt: This ongoing series combines low-impact moves with weight training targeting major muscle groups while addressing hard to reach spots. The routine includes extensive floor work. Wednesdays from 5 to 6 p.m. with Ian Barclay.

Core and Sweat: This ongoing series lead by Ian Barclay features weight training that targets major muscle groups while addressing hard to reach spots. The routine includes extensive floor work. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 to 9 a.m.

Fit ‘N’ Fun: Exercise program for the over-55 crowd improves aerobic capacity, strength, flexibility, balance and coordination. This ongoing class, led by Michele Lamare, is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Functional Fitness: Learn to increase both core and upper body strength and improve the stability of abdominal and low back muscles. Participants will discover how to prevent injury due to improper body mechanics and repetitive motion. Fridays from noon to 12:30 p.m., with instructor Brandi Eastman.

Happy Hearts and Lungs: A class designed for people with a “cardiac event” history or pulmonary disease who have completed a cardiopulmonary rehabilitation program and are looking for a maintenance program. The class includes general supervision and individual, independent cardiovascular and strength training. It also incorporates group weight training and self-safety skills. The instructors are Sue Driscoll and Brandi Eastman. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8, 9 and 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Lunch Crunch: Join instructor Lin Bourque for a lunch-hour class featuring a full-body workout that burns calories and sculpts muscles. Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon to 1 p.m. Class concludes Nov. 25.

Personal Fitness: Begins with a one-on-one evaluation and program development session with a personal health counselor, then progresses to a structured group exercise plan overseen by instructors Michele and Brandi. Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8 and 9:30 a.m.

Power Plus: Functional weight and mobility training to increase flexibility and strength, resulting in lean muscle (not bulk). Build core strength and improve balance by incorporating every muscle group. Finish with a gentle cool down and stretch. This ongoing class is led by Rick Jalbert. Tuesdays from 5 to 6 p.m.

Sixty-Minute Shred: This ongoing class is a full body workout featuring circuit resistance and interval training with instructor Brandi Eastman. The class concentrates on functional movements, core strengthening, boosting metabolism, and multiple-muscle movements with high repetitions for lean, toned results. Check it out on Wednesday from 6 to 7 p.m.

Step Aerobics: A heart-pumping, muscle-moving workout that alternates step with muscle work. Led by Sue Driscoll, this cardio workout is a head-to-toe body strengthener. Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m.

Step Express: Stop in for some sensationally scintillating and stimulating step aerobics. Twenty five minutes of fun, fancy footwork following with five fabulous minutes of functional flexibility finishers. Mosey in on Monday and join instructor Rick Jalbert from noon to 12:30p.m.

Tone-N-Tighten: Instructor Lin Bourque leads this 60-minute total body workout that utilizes a combination of dumbbells, bands, aerobic bars and stability balls to tone the hips, gluteals, abdominals, legs and upper body. This ongoing class will be held on Saturdays from 8 to 9 a.m.

Trim-N-Tone (aka “T-N-T2”!): A 30-minute toning class with Lin Bourque, utilizing ankle weights to shape and tone common “problem areas” – hips, thighs, and buttocks. Makes a great follow-up to “TNT,” or a good standalone class. Begins Dec. 6 at 9:30 a.m.

Yoga: Discover the benefits of an alignment-based yoga practice where you will gain strength and flexibility in your body, mind and spirit. Learn how intelligent alignment principles and a positive and uplifting yogic philosophy can help you soar through your practice with grace, poise and ease. This is an all-levels class and instructor Tisha Bremner will offer modifications to support each student through a safe and effective practice. Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 to 6:15 p.m., class sizes are limited and are offered on a first-come, first served basis.

Yoga — Relax and Restore: Reduce stress and gain a deeper sense of balance and calm. This gently paced class combines meditation, breath work, as well as therapeutic and restorative yoga poses to enhance a sense of calm and well-being. Open, release and relax the body in a nurturing way; feel your mind, heart and spirit renewed. Open to all experience and ability levels. Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. with instructor Tisha Bremner.

Zumba: Latin-inspired dance exercise program uses a variety of basic dance styles set to international music such as merengue, salsa and reggaeton. Using principles of aerobic-fitness interval training and resistance training, Zumba is great for burning calories (up to 500 per class) while sculpting and toning the body. This six-week program is led by Cynthia Nicholas. Mondays from 5 to 6 p.m. beginning Nov. 17. Advance sign-up is required.

All programs are offered in the CMMC Health and Fitness Center, 12 High Street Medical Office Building.

Fees are assessed for participation in these programs and must be paid prior to beginning the program. Class registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Membership in the CMMC Health and Fitness Center is open to the public.The center offers a large variety of fitness equipment, personal training services, massage therapy and fitness evaluation.
