1923 – 2014

SKOWHEGAN — Armand “Mike” D. Doiron, 91, a resident of Jay, passed away Tuesday evening, Nov. 18, at Redington-Fairview Hospital following a brief illness.

He was born in Jay on April 4, 1923, a son of Stanislas “Stan” and Eugenie “Jenny” (Ouellette) Doiron. He graduated from Jay High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II, having served in Iwo Jima in the Pacific. On June 25, 1949, at St. Rose of Lima in Jay, he married Gloria Tardif; she passed away on Nov. 25, 2000.

Mike worked as a supervisor in the repair department for International Paper Co. at the Otis and Androscoggin mills in Jay, retiring in 1982. He was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church; and a member of the Knights of Columbus, the third and fourth degree; the Frank L. Mitchell VFW Post 3335 in Jay and Toastmaster Club in Jay and Livermore Falls, and was also a member of the International Paper Quarter-Century Club.

He is survived by his sons, Dennis Doiron of Texas, Douglas Doiron of Chesterville, Shawn Doiron of Jay and Terrence Doiron and his wife, Jen, of Maryland; daughter-in-law, Hazel Doiron Shorey, of Yarmouth; brothers, retired Col. Nicholas Doiron and his wife, Joyce, of Sacramento, Calif., and Richard Doiron and his wife, Phyllis, of Jay; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; his wife of 51 years, Gloria D. Doiron; his son, Darrell Doiron; his twin brother, Norman F. Doiron; brothers, Ludger, Reginald, Rene, Camello and Vincent Doiron; and sisters, Ruth Herring and Pauline Flagg.
