CAMDEN — Go! Malawi is once again beginning the road race series on Thursday, Jan. 1, at the Smokestack Grill. 43 Mechanic St. Race start is 11 a.m.

The race is the first of five holiday 5Ks the nonprofit organizes annually to raise money to fund education program in rural Malawi. Go! Malawi helps educate impoverished and orphaned children in order to give them a “hand up” and a chance at a productive life. The Go! Malawi Team is local and led by Andrew Bonarrigo and Reade Brower.

Walkers, runners and well-behaved dogs may register at the Smokestack Grill starting at 9:30 a.m.

Those wishing may pre-register at active.com or runsignup.com or visit www.go-malawi.org.

Team Go! Malawi will also start a weekly “Run Social” in the mid-coast area. The run will be timed and each runner can make their own goals to improve themselves. The first social run is 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, at the Chowder House in Rockland. For more information, contact Andrew Bonarrigo @masonman321@yahoo.com, or board members Reade Brower @Reade@freepressonline.com or Janet Littlefield @ Janet@go-malawi.org.
