Coming together in 2007, the band Vegetables by Day got its start playing at Holly’s Own Deli & Wine Bar and has since become the “house band” there. The group will play a mix of contemporary acoustic and classic rock from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10. Members are lead singer Don Hebert on guitar, Steve Mehalcik on bass and Ray Tardiff on drums. Hebert and Mehalcik both work in the produce department of a local grocery store, hence the band’s name. Tardiff has been involved in the local music scene all of his life. Playing Thursday, Oct. 9, will be Mary Murphy, jazz and blues piano. Holly’s is at 84 Court St., Auburn.
