1919 – 2015

AUBURN — Fedora Eugenie Brochu, 95 (34,846 days), of Auburn, passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 12, at Clover Health Care, with her loving family by her side.

Fedora was born in Ste. Germaine, Quebec, Canada, on Aug. 20, 1919, a daughter of Clotaire and Helena Asselen Gagnon. She attended schools in Canada. On May 4, 1959, she married Eddy Brochu and they raised five children in the Lewiston area.

She worked various housekeeping jobs and at Bolster Heights Nursing Care in Auburn for 15 years, until her retirement in 1989. She managed to do the toughest job of all, raising her children, and always made them feel loved and cared for.

She spent most of her time knitting hats, mittens and other articles for the less fortunate and belonged to the knitters club of Catholic Charities of Maine. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Lewiston, as well as charitable organizations Les Dames de Charite, Les Dames de Ste-Anne.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, her yearly visits with her daughters and grandsons, knitting, listening to music and watching “The Price is Right.”

Fedora, or Miss Fedora to many, was the most beautiful person we knew inside and out, and she always smiled and made everyone else around her smile. She had such an amazing impact on life and anyone who knew her was blessed. All we have left is to cherish those memories we made together and help perpetuate the many values, faith and love that we shared. We have lost an angel and a very dear friend.
