After reading in a Sun Journal story Wednesday, Jan. 14, about how paid-bag trash collection might be considered for Lewiston (and Auburn), I am wondering if it would be possible to create a bag capable of resisting assaults by crows, seagulls, raccoons and the other critters that scatter trash around neighborhoods in their search for food.
A sturdy trash can with a lid is a necessity in many areas.

Editor’s note: In December, members of the Auburn Solid Waste and Recycling Committee discussed the possibility of a pay-as-you-throw option, and the Lewiston City Council discussed it earlier this month. Neither city has made any decision to go forward, but each has agreed to continue discussions.
