1921 – 2015

AUBURN — Wilma Hill Stewart, 93, of Ferry Road in Lisbon, passed away Monday, Jan. 19, surrounded by family at the Hospice House in Auburn.

Wilma was born on Hill’s Ridge in Greene on Nov. 27, 1921, a daughter of Royden M. and Mildred Weymouth Hill. She was educated in Sabattus and Lewiston schools and graduated valedictorian of Sabattus High School, Class of 1939.

Wilma worked as a telephone operator for several years.

She married her beloved husband, James R. Stewart, on June 6, 1943. They lived in Sabattus for a number of years until they bought their family home, a dairy farm on Ferry Road in Lisbon, where they lived for 57 years. Wilma never left the farm, living next door to her son and daughter-in-law after the passing of her husband.

Wilma leaves her three sons, Lindon Stewart and his wife, Cheryl, of Wales, Martin Stewart and his wife, Marie, of Lisbon, and Paul Stewart of Greene; nine grandchildren, Randy Stewart, Richie Stewart, Bob Stewart, Russell Stewart, Jessica (Stewart) Richard, Ryan Stewart, Scott Stewart, Sarah (Stewart) Morin and Christina Stewart; 12 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 66 years; her brother and sister-in-law, the Rev. Roger and Helena Hill; and great-grandson, Tommy Stewart.
