LEWISTON — Phyllis B. Cray Chapman, 82, of Poland, died from complications of pneumonia, Thursday, Jan. 29, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center with her family by her side.
Phyllis was born in Gardiner, the daughter of Nettie and Wesley Cray. She was married to Edward R. Chapman, who predeceased her.
Phyllis was employed for many years by Chapman Trucking, but her number one job was being the best mother, grandmother and great-grandmother that she could be. Her greatest joy was her family gathering together. The family will always remember her laughter and wonderful sense of humor.
She is survived by daughters, Sharon Davis and Shannon Ross; son, Ed Chapman and his wife, Sharon; sisters, Pauline Beasley and Gloria Kenny; brother, Merle Cray; grandchildren, Stacy Whetzel, Steve Davis and Matthew Chapman; great-grandchildren, Haley Davis and Garrison Whetzel; and sister-in-law and best friend, Rita Hanning.
She was predeceased by her parents; and two brothers, Wesley Cray Jr. and Albert Cray.
The family wishes to thank the staff of St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center emergency room department, ICU and respiratory therapy for their outstanding care and compassion. We would also like to thank special family friend, Susan Bowie.
Phyllis was a special person and will be greatly missed. We love you, Nana.
