1925 – 2015

GREENVILLE — William Carl Kinner passed away peacefully in Greenville on Wednesday, March 4, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Lewiston on Aug. 2, 1925, to William and Gertrude Kinner of Poland. He served in Panama in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Morse code operator.

Upon returning to Maine, he married and started a family. In the early 1950s, he moved to McLean, Va., and began a 26-year career with the U.S. government, spending the majority of those years abroad. Bill attributed the success of his career to the support of his wife, Kaye. From his military service to his government career, and throughout his entire life, Bill was a patriotic man.

Bill retired in 1979, and shortly after bought a camp on Moosehead Lake, where he and Kaye enjoyed boating, fishing and hunting. There, he began a second career as a real estate agent and took pride in sharing the Great North Woods with clients. His family and friends have gathered together at camp for over 30 years.

His love for and knowledge of the outdoors, and his dinnertime stories about his world travels, will be remembered by all who have spent time with him.
