1925 – 2015
LEWISTON — Henry C. “Tibby” Thibodeau, 89, of Lewiston died unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 10, at Central Maine Medical Center with his family by his side.
He was born in Van Buren on Aug. 5, 1925, the son of the late Edmond and Flavie Thibodeau and had been a resident of this community for most of his life.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Joan (Sadler) Thibodeau of Lewiston, whom he married on July 19, 1948; his sister, Pauline Harvey of Auburn; his son, Paul Michael Thibodeau of Westbrook; his daughter, Patrice Haggerty and her husband, William, of Concord, N.H.; his grandchildren, Timothy Haggerty of Leominster, Mass., Daniel Haggerty and his wife Kristen of Pembroke, N.H., and Kathleen Thibodeau of Scarborough; a great-granddaughter, Emma Haggerty of Pembroke, N.H.; and a wealth of extended family and friends whom he loved and loved him.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Lottie Violette, Esther Thibodeau, Dorothy Rioux and Lucille Sampson; and his brothers Romeo, Alfred, Edrick, Roger, Lorn and Richard Thibodeau.
In addition to the joy he found in spending time with his family and making people laugh with his signature sense of humor, Henry took eternal pride in his service in Okinawa during World War II as a member of the Sixth Marine Division. “Once a Marine, Always a Marine.”
