BETHEL — Gould Academy senior Max Southam will tell the story of fulfilling his dream of a 2,700-mile bike trip from Canada to New Mexico next month.

His talk is titled “Youth Backyard Dream Gets Real.” It is part of Mahoosuc Land Trust’s series, This Is Your Backyard. It will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, in McLaughlin Auditorium at Gould Academy.

Max began biking at the age of 4. He has been a four-year member of the mountain biking and road biking teams at Gould. Wanting to do something epic for his Senior 4 Point project, he started to research doing the Tour Divide, a 2700 mile mountain bike race over the Rocky Mountains. It starts in Banff, Canada and ends in Antelope Wells, N.M.

During the summer of 2014, Max realized this dream when he and his father, Peter, biked the Continental Divide.
