RUMFORD — Napoleon Ouellette Post 24, American Legion, will meet at 6 p.m. Sunday, April 12, at its hall at 184 Congress St. Supper will be served at 5 p.m.
The date change is because Easter is the first Sunday in April.
The meeting agenda includes electing officers and discussing bylaw changes and membership dues.
The post’s goal of supporting veterans, their families and communities has become harder because of costs to keep the hall open, so the focus now is paying the monthly bills. The post donates the hall for weekly Scout events, blood drives, veteran celebrations, veterans’ funeral receptions, TGALS, and benefits events for individuals.
The post plans to meet with Joseph Armstrong, president of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1044, Saturday at the post headquarters to present socks collected in the Our Warm Feet Campaign.
Information for Boys State and Girls State is available at Mountain Valley High School in Rumford. The programs are open to juniors. The post and auxiliary sent seven delegates to Boys State and four delegates to Girls State in 2014 at a cost of $275 each. Sponsor and co-sponsors are welcome.
Upcoming events include:
