LEWISTON — April classes are being offered at the SeniorsPlus Education Center, 8 Falcon Road. Classes are free unless noted.
Beginners Strength, Balance & Resistance Training: 11 to 11:45 a.m. on Mondays (no class April 20), and 1 to 1:45 p.m. on Wednesdays (no class April 22). This new twice-a-week class is designed to improve participants’ quality of life. Come every Monday and/or Wednesday. Instructor is Linn Morin, certified Silver Sneakers/FLEX trainer. Fundamentals of (chair) Tai Chi: 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 7; instructor, Ruben Cornelius. Learn about the practice of Tai Chi.
Age, Memory Decline and Dementia: 1 to 3 p.m., Thursday, April 9; instructor, Noreen Flanagan, MD, director, Geriatric Community Clinical Services, St. Mary’s. Learn what is a normal part of aging, what may not be and what to do to take care of ourselves and others.
Mind/Body Connection for a Healthy Heart: 1 to 2 p.m., Monday, April 13; instructor, Tisha Bremner, Inner Light Yoga of Maine. Learn how a mind/body practice can help a heart stay healthy. Included will be a demonstration of chair yoga.
Living Well for Better Health: 1 to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, April 14 to May 26 (no class May 12); instructor, Pam Piper, SeniorsPlus. Learn how to manage on-going health conditions with this six-week workshop.
Vaccination and Medication Safety: 10 to 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 15; instructor, Daniel Fontain, pharmacist. Learn about immunization options available to seniors.
Medicare 101: The Basics: 6 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 15; instructor, Roland Bussiere, SeniorsPlus. Learn the basics and time lines of the system.
Intermediate — Using Facebook: 1 to 3 p.m., Friday, April 17; instructor, Jill Spencer, senior partner, Learning Capacity Unlimited. This session will demonstrate how to share lots of things, such as status updates, photos, links and location. It will be hands-on so bring a digital device, charged and ready to go. There will be some available.
AARP Smart Driver: 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday, April 22; instructor, George Davis, AARP; cost, $20, payable to AARP; $15 for AARP members. Drivers 55+ completing the class are eligible for discounts on their auto insurance for three years.
Healthy Aging Series — Some Easy to Swallow Information: 1 to 2:30 p.m., Thursday, April 23; instructor, Dr. Alan Verrill, CMMC. Topic will be the health of your mouth, esophagus and stomach.
Gentle Morning Chair Yoga for Seniors: 9 to 10 a.m., Mondays, April 27 to June 22 (no class May 25); instructor, Tisha Bremner. Cost is $40 for 8 weeks; drop in, $8 a class. Combines meditation, easy warm-ups, light stretches and gentle yoga postures.

Legacy Writers Group — Let Us Help Tell Your Life Story: 3 to 5 p.m., Wednesday, April 1.
Dementia Conversations: 10 a.m. to noon, Friday, April 24. The program is designed to help talk with the family, including the person with signs of dementia, about some challenging and often uncomfortable topics related to Alzheimer’s and dementia.
