AUBURN – The Lewiston-Auburn Community Little Theatre will present “The Laramie Project” Jan. 18-27, under the direction of Linda Britt.
A true account of the Matthew Shepard murder, as related by Moises Kaufman and the Members of Tectonic Theater Project, the play presents real characters, real people and a compelling look at how people reacted and coped with the tragedy.
“The Laramie Project” examines the difference between tolerance and acceptance. Its focus is the brutal murder of a gay college student in Laramie, Wy., in 1998, and how it affected the people there and beyond.
Eight cast members will each portray several characters in the play. The ensemble cast includes Mark Hazard as Stephen Belber, John Blanchette as John McAdam, Matt Delamater as Andy Paris, Calvin Shaw as Greg Pierotti, Mary Atala Lessard as Amanda Gronich, Jackie McDonald as Mercedes Herrero, Mariah Perry as Barbara Pitts, and Becky Shor as Kelli Simpson.
Assisting Britt are Ellen Peters, assistant director; Pat Phillips, assistant to the director; Karen McArthur, producer; Stan Spilecki, set/light designer; Michelle Washburn, stage manager, assisted by Andie Hannon; Doreen Traynor, costume designer; Heidi Audet, props; Chad Gagnon, tech specialist/lighting intern; Melody Driscoll, prompter; Adam Klein, production manager; and Rachel Morin, publicist.
Performances are at the Great Falls Performing Arts Center on Academy Street.
Tickets are $15, with the exception of the Thursday show ($13). Reservations may be made by calling 783-0958, or by accessing the theater’s Web site at www.laclt.com.
