Lewiston cribbage league announces winners
LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens Cribbage League winners at the Lewiston Memorial Armory on Thursday, April 9, were Val Asselin, first place; Betty Ames and Richard Cloutier, second place, Jeannine Labbe and Terry Lefebvre, third place; Anna Faucher and Dennis Gosselin, fourth place; and Diane Torres and Henry Maheux, fifth place.
The next game will be played at 9 a.m. Thursday, April 16.

POLAND — The annual meeting of the directors and officers of the Pine Grove Cemetery Corporation of Poland will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 26, at the home of Fred Huntress, 67 Strout Road, Poland.

AUBURN — The Auburn Public Library with Yu Li “Lilly” Huang will offer a six week story time in Chinese from 5 to 5:30 p.m. Monday afternoons, April 27 to June 8, in the Maggie Trafton program room, 49 Spring St.

Community Nature Programs Series to discuss rainbow smelt
TOPSHAM — Cathance River Education Alliance and the Topsham Public Library will present “Our Disappearing Rainbow Smelt” from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, at the library, 25 Foreside Road, Topsham.
The rainbow smelt is a small fish that lives in estuaries and offshore waters and spawns in shallow freshwater streams each spring. A century ago, streams teemed with these silvery fish. During the last twenty years, numbers have dropped dramatically, and the rainbow smelt is now listed as a federal species of concern. Claire Enterline, Maine smelt expert with the MDMR, will be on hand to discuss this current topic.

Roles of Women in the American Civil War
AUBURN — The Androscoggin Historical Society will host an educational program with retired teacher Barbara Randall entitled “The Roles of Women in the Civil War” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, at the society’s museum on the third floor of the County Building, 2 Turner St., Auburn.
Randall serves on the Board of Directors of Androscoggin Historical Society and is a member of the Women’s Literary Union.

Coping with loneliness explored at Lifetree Café
LEWISTON — Strategies for coping with loneliness will be discussed at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 30, at Lifetree Café, 1919 Lisbon Road.
The program, titled “Isolated and Alone: Imprisoned in Iran,” includes a filmed interview with Sarah Shourd, who accidentally crossed the Iranian border while hiking and was held in solitary confinement for 410 days.
Participants will consider the consequences of loneliness and how they can avoid experiencing it.
Admission is free, and snacks and beverages are available.
