NORWAY — Mark E. Vail, 64, of West Bethel, passed away Monday, April 20, 2015 at Stephens Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Vail was born in Rumford on May 28, 1950, a son of Emery L. and Geneva A. (Lane) Vail. He was educated in Newry grammar schools and graduated from Gould Academy in 1968.

He had lived in Salt Lake City, Utah for 30 years and worked as a computer programmer for the state of Utah.

Mr. Vail returned to Maine three years ago and moved to West Bethel. He enjoyed studying geneology and history of Bethel and Oxford County. He was a member of MENSA International, the high IQ Society.

He leaves behind two brothers, Lee Vail and his wife, Halina, of Sandown, N.H. and Kurt Vail and his wife, Doreen, of North Norway; two sisters, Heather Vail of Newry, and Patricia Mank of Waldoboro and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Vail was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Douglas Vail.

His family is arranging a service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to Responsible Pet Care, P.O. Box 82, Norway, ME 04268.
