Youth Shooting League collecting yard sale items

WILTON — The Wilton Fish & Game Youth Shooting League members are collecting articles for a three-day Memorial Weekend Yard Sale.

The league will collect unwanted items from the community to sell at the yard sale. Funds earned will be used for summer programs and outdoor shooting. Pick-up is available.

PARIS — Oxford Hills School District will honor School Lunch Heroes serving healthy meals on School Lunch Hero Day on Friday, May 1.

School Lunch Hero Day provides an opportunity for parents, students, school staff and communities to thank those who provide healthy meals to America’s students each school day. For many children, school lunch is the most important and nutrient-rich meal of the day.

Oxford Hills School District nutrition professionals have a lot on their plate between preparing healthy food, adhering to strict nutrition standards, navigating student food allergies and offering service with a smile. MSAD 17 serves approximately 1,500 students daily.

Dixfield Congregational Church hosting spring fling

DIXFIELD — The annual May spring fling will be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at the Dixfield Congregational Church, 10 High St., Dixfield, in the church annex.

The spring fling will feature breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m., baked goods, raffles, attic treasures, Rada cutlery, seedlings, cheese and lunch.

Those who bring a food item item, toiletry or make a $2.50 donation to the local food cupboard will be entered to win a $100 gift card to Wal Mart.

Daughters of Isabella to hold yard sale

JAY — Daughters of Isabella will be holding a yard sale at the St. Rose Parish Hall in Jay from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 2.

Anyone wishing to donate items for the yard sale can drop the items off at the parish hall on Friday, May 1. The Daughters will not be accepting clothing, microwaves or televisions.

There will be the food table. Anyone wishing to donate a food item for this table may do so between noon and 5 p.m. Friday, May 1.

St. Barnabas Episcopal Church holding rummage sale

RUMFORD — St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Rumford will hold a food and rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 2.

Items for sale will include baked goods, books, clothing and household items.

First Saturday will have pastries, book sale, boutique

WAYNE — The Williams House will host a First Saturday event from 9 a.m. to noon on May 2 at 14 Old Winthrop Road.

There will be refreshments, and proceeds from the boutique and book sale will benefit the Wayne Library Association.

Emugene Staples Recruitment Grant accepting applications

PARIS — The Zeta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma will award a $300 grant in May, recognizing a woman in education and promoting her professional growth.

Applicants must be women who have completed their freshman year of college, are going into the field of education and come from a town in the school units SAD 17, SAD 44 or RSU 10. Applicants should submit a one page letter telling about their educational background, future plans and why they feel they would be a good choice to receive this grant.
