NEWRY — The Mahoosuc Land Trust will lead a quiet hike along the Bull Branch in Newry on Saturday, May 9.

The hike will follow a moderate but unmaintained trail from the Wright Trail parking area toward Mahoosuc Notch. Bushwhack will be done to see small falls on the river. Conditions may be highly variable. The round trip will be 7 miles or further, and completion time is expected to be three or four hours.

Hikers will meet at 9 a.m. at the Twin Bridges parking lot on the Sunday River Road, passed the covered bridge where the road becomes gravel. Parking will be across the two cement bridges on the left. Hikers will carpool to the Wright Trail parking lot.

The hike is planned as a quiet hike in order to increase the odds of seeing wildlife. Therefor, dogs may not participate in the hike.

Hikers should bring a daypack with food and water, be dressed for steady hiking with variable conditions, including appropriate footwear, and expect to get wet feet.

Reservations are required. The rain date is set for Saturday, May 16, and hikers will be notified of postponement.
