Fashionistas who deem plump, green packages of chewing gum incompatible with their $1,000 handbags – and their own image – can take 5.

That’s 5, as in a new fashion-conscious gum from Wrigley, which wears black, of course, and is compact enough to fit in even the sleekest python clutch. In three sugar-free flavors, Rain (spearmint), Cobalt (peppermint) and Flare (cinnamon), 5 delivered on its promise of “invigorating sensations” for all the senses – thus the name – as we chewed. Most impressive was the full-bodied flavor (Flare stood out) and pliable texture, both of which lasted longer than a typical gum.

Each package contains 15 slender sticks in foil color-coordinated to its flavor. The price for this upgrade: $1.49, versus 99 cents for Wrigley’s Orbit gum, which has 14 sticks. 5 is available at your usual gum purchase points.
